Quiltmaker Workshop Production
AUDITIONS FOR THE QUILTMAKER WORKSHOP PRODUCTION
WHAT: The Moving Dock Theatre Company announces auditions for its
upcoming project – an ensemble-created original adaptation of The Quiltmakers Gift and The Quiltmakers Journey by Jeff Brumbeau. Directed by Dawn Arnold and Patrizia Acerra, the Quiltmaker Workshop Production is the latest in The Moving Dock Studio’s series of Bare Bones Projects where the actor’s creative process is engaged in the building of a new work for theatre.
Actors wishing to audition must have training in physical theatre, character creating, movement, and improvisation. Diversity of type, age, and ethnicity is encouraged. The ensemble will be working with the Michael Chekhov technique and previous training in that approach would be useful, although actors in the project will be receiving training as a part of the process.
WHEN: Auditions will be held beginning mid-February and will continue
until the cast is chosen. All auditions will be in an ensemble/workshop style.
Rehearsals for the project begin mid-March and will be several weekday evenings and some weekend days weekly through mid-June.
Performances will be mid-June. The Quiltmaker project will have a full production in the fall of 2006, but actors are not required to commit beyond the workshop phase of this developmental project.
WHERE: Auditions and rehearsals will be in the Studio of The Moving Dock
in the Fine Arts Building, 410 S. Michigan Ave, Suite 720, in downtown Chicago. The Studio is two blocks south of the Art Museum on Michigan Ave between Van Buren and Congress. It is near the Library stop of the El Brown line or the Jackson stop of the Red line. There are parking garages nearby and occasional street parking.
HOW: Actors should send picture/resume/cover letter to
