VENUE: THE LAMBS THEATRE
The Man in the Iron Mask is a new musical in development based upon the characters created by Alexandre Dumas.
Staged Reading - February 13th,
Performance at 7:00pm
Actors of all ethnic backgrounds encouraged to audition.
LOUIS XIV - King of France. Male, tenor, early 20s. A disturbed boy.Gleefully Cruel, contemptuous and evil-spirited.
PHILIPPE - His twin brother. Male, tenor, early 20s. A pure and innocent boy with a sense of adventure. Can adopt the mannerisms and characteristics of Louis.
ANNE - The Queen Mother. Female, soprano/belter, late 30s-early 50s. Downtrodden queen, exiled by her son. Very strong woman.
ARAMIS - Royal Confessor, former Musketeer. Male, tenor, early 40s-early50s. An ambitious man. Politically minded and a fighter for justice.
ATHOS - Comte de la Fere, former captain of the Musketeers. Male,baritone/tenor, early 40s-late 50s. Once the voracious leader of the Musketeers. Afterhis son was killed, he became reclusive and temperamental.
PORTHOS - Baron du Vallon, former Musketeer. Male, baritone/bass, late30s-early 50s. A physically imposing man. Comical, but takes himself seriously.He's in it for the party!D'ARTAGNAN - Captain of the Musketeers. Male, baritone/tenor, late 30s-early40s. Possesses a deep and even crippling sense of duty, and he is fiercelyloyal to the king.
FOUQUET - Minister of Finance. Male, baritone, early-late 40s. A weasel of aman. Sniveling and two-faced.
BAISEMAUX - Jailor of the Bastille. Male, bass-baritone, early 30s-late 40s.A drone. Executes the orders given to him by the king, but not withouthidden resentment.
MARIE-THERESE - Princess of Spain, betrothed to Louis XIV. Female, soprano,early 20s. A fiery young woman. Unafraid to speak her mind.
COURT SINGERS (2) - Female, alto and soprano, any age.
FOPS (3) - Male, 2 tenors/1 baritone, mid 20s-late 30s, must have classically trained voices.
ENSEMBLE - Need sopranos, altos, tenors and basses to fill 16-memberensemble. Smaller acting and singing roles are taken from the ensemble.
